The Bau Family Award (鮑氏獎) in Inorganic Chemistry was established in 2008 by the late Prof. Robert Bau (鮑道鈞), an international figure known for his pioneering studies on the chemistry of transition-metal hydride complexes, for presentation at biennial joint International Symposia for Chinese Organic Chemists (ISCOC) and Chinese Inorganic Chemists (ISCIC).
The award (US$ 2,000 and a plaque) is given to a young inorganic chemist (under the age of 45 and required to deliver a lecture at the award ceremony) in recognition of his/her outstanding achievements. The inaugural award ceremony was held at ISCOC-10/ISCIC-7 in Shanghai, where Prof. Bau personally handed the award to the winner only a few months before he passed away.
Nomination of candidates for the Bau Family Award in Inorganic Chemistry at ISCOS-ISCIC 2016 in Singapore is now open, and the closing date has been set on 1 August 2016.
Each Member of the International Advisory Committee of ISCIC and the Selection Committee can nominate one or two candidates (without indication of priority) who will be still under age 45 when the award is formally presented at the Meeting.
The nomination package consists of (a) a nomination letter, (b) a brief one-page curriculum vitae of the candidate, (c) three representative reprints, and (d) optional supporting letters by other chemists. The whole document should be sent as a PDF file via e-mail to the Committee Chair* before the submission deadline.
